Just to get the unavoidable out of the way first: No, I'm not rich (quite on the contrary). And I did not just wake up one day and buy 24 dolls and their clothes & accessories. This is the beginning of my ninth year in the bjd hobby so, I've had 8 years to grow my collection. The photo is missing Fenrir because he's inbetween bodies, and Larissa because she doesn't have a body yet.

When I took these guys out of their shelves I realized that some of my oldest dolls don't really suit my tastes anymore, so I might be selling a few (within them my very first doll :<) or re-shelling them as molds that are more suitable for me right now. It's just that I get really attached and it's really hard for me to sell the oldest ones. Especially when I know it's gonna be a pain because they're hybrided and not a perfect match due to yellowing and all that jazz. And they're worth much more in sentimental value than monetary.

But let's see which way my collection ends up going. The reality is that I do have to sell something if I want to buy something new, because I just don't have enough room. I already have Llyr out of the glass shelf because him and his giant claw-feet just don't fit into either one. xD He's collecting dust on my bookcase. Though, I'm lucky in a way that I no longer have characters that I 'need' for my stories. Just ones that I want (but that list is always growing).

Such a beautiful collection!

I know how you feel too... although I don't collect dolls anymore, it's always amazed me how attached you can become to inanimate objects. To me, some of my old dolls were like people, with personalities and everything, so I totally understand how it can be hard to let them go.

If I were you, I'd hang onto my very first one. Call me sentimental. *shrugs* ^^

You have quite a beautiful collection! I have 29 myself, and I also started collecting them a long time ago, nine years ago in fact. I too find that a couple of my dolls I've outgrown, but I just passed one on to my daughter, because it was much more to her taste. It's hard to think about selling them, because warts and all they become part of the family. Thanks for sharing this great photo. I really like so many of your dolls. I couldn't even imagine which one of them you would think to part with, they're all so nice! :)

It's insane every time you take a group shot. The way you manage to pose everyone so realistically. I tried to pose 8 dolls for a group shot and it drove me nuts. (The shot didn't work out either >.<)

Well, I pretty much pose them individually and just put them where they fit (and aren't in front of anyone's face), so it's not that hard. I had to do this really quickly too, because the light was fading so they're all just standing in a really dull way. The back row was the most stylish but you can't see them because of the little ones in front of them. =__=;;
I have been thinking of a real challenge, though: a group shot where they're interracting with eachother. That might drive me nuts and I think I'd need to make sure I have at least an hour extra time (probably more). Oh, and I'd need even more space because they wouldn't be so compactly placed in a shot like that. Yyyeaah, now that I think about it in detail... maybe not.

It's really nice to see them all together! Must have had a heck of a time placing them all for this photo, too!
I need to get around to a group shot one of these days.

They all look amazing and show how much work you put into them over the past 8-9 years <3
