I have not been very vocal about this simply because the debate irritates me, but I did take part in the Pro BJD Artists day today, by posting a few photos on flickr:
I support legit BJDs and the artists behind them. Be it a company or a single artist, recasts hurt them all the same. Recasts rob them of their livelihood and passion to create new dolls. Without their creativity we would not have new dolls and the hobby wouldn't be what it is today. Please do not support illegal copies that destroy the artists and the community. By supporting the original artists we support the future of the hobby.
There is so much variety in size, shape, colour and price of legit BJDs that there is not a single reason to buy a recast. There is something for everyone, at every price point. Anyone saying otherwise is making excuses.
So, before considering a recast, please consider the feelings of the artists who created these dolls and give your support to them instead. Without them we wouldn't have dolls.
Please, DO NOT
